Little League Time in Milford

The Milford Recreation Department in cooperation with the Milford International Little is excited to announce registration for the 2012 Little League Challenger Baseball Program.

The Challenger Division of Little League is a program for developmentally and physically challenged boys and girls ages 4-18 (or the completion of high school), helping them to enjoy the full benefits of Little League participation in an athletic environment structured to their abilities. More than the skills of baseball learned through the experience, the value of the Little League Challenger Division is found in the proven therapeutic and socialization benefits of participating in sports; the strengthening of participants’ self-esteem; the opportunities to mainstream into other divisions of play and the disciplines of teamwork, sportsmanship and fair play, which are hallmarks of the Little League program.

The Milford Royals will practice and play their games at Brewster Field on Tuesday evenings at 5:30 p.m. and play their games on the weekends. The first practice will be on April 24th at 5:30 p.m. Opening Day will take place on May 5th at 9:00 a.m., and the first game will be played at 4:00 p.m. on May 5th.

The cost of this program is $25.00 per player (payable to the MILL) which includes a uniform shirt and hat. Registration forms and medical release forms are available at the Milford Recreation Department or online at www.milfordrecreation.org

All necessary forms and the payment should be returned to the Milford Recreation Department prior to participation.

The program is also looking for those individuals who wish to volunteer as mentors for this program, as a Challenger Buddy.

For registration information contact Mike Jacobsen at 203-783-3387 or mjacobsen@ci.milford.ct.us

For more information on the program or if you would like become a Challenger Buddy contact Debra Marchese at 203-550-2520.
