2012 Milford Republican’s Hall of Fame Dinner
Former Milford Mayor Jim Richetelli to be Honored
On Monday, March 19, 2012, the Milford Republican Town Committee will hold its sixth annual Hall of Fame Dinner at the Costa Azzurra Restaurant. The event recognizes individuals who - regardless of political affiliation - have made outstanding contributions to the local community. Event Chairman Paula Smith said “This year will be special because we will be honoring former Mayor James Richetelli for his more than 25 years of service to our community”. Tom Jagodzinski said, “The great thing about this event is that over the years people from across the political spectrum have come out to enjoy themselves and say thank you to our honorees. It doesn’t matter if you’re Republican, Democrat or independent, you’re always among friends here.”
Jim was elected to the Board of Aldermen in 1985. He served 10 years as an alderman, with terms as chairman and majority leader. He chaired the West Shore Fire Station Building Committee from 1986-88, and became a Justice of the Peace in 1991.
He was elected Mayor in 2001 to succeed his mentor, the late Fred Lisman and served five terms. During his tenure as Mayor, Jim was a constant presence in Milford, who virtually never missed an Opening Day, a fishing derby, a ribbon-cutting, a memorial ceremony, a parade, or a Senior Center event. Outside of Milford, he advocated tirelessly for his City through leadership posts in the Connecticut Conference of Municipalities and the regional Council of Governments.
Jim Richetelli has earned numerous awards, including accolades from: Concerned Citizens for Disabilities; the Environmental Concerns Coalition; Bridges…A Community Support System; Milford Columbus Committee; Easter Seals; Boys and Girls Village; YMCA; and Milford Chamber of Commerce. Jim has served the community through organizations like Little League, Milford Prevention Council, Saint Mary Parish, Foran High Booster Club, and Boys & Girls Club.
In 2011, Jim Richetelli opted not to seek a sixth term as Mayor. Today, he continues to serve Milford as the Chief Operations Officer for the public schools.
The Hall of Fame Dinner will take place Monday, March 19, 2012 at 6:00 PM at the Costa Azzurra Restaurant, 72 Broadway, Milford. Tickets are $35 per person. There will be a buffet dinner and cash bar. For reservations call 203-876-2749.
