Lauralton students shine at All State Music Festival
MILFORD--Two Lauralton Hall students, Julia Elia, ’12,
of Milford and Dolly Canevari, ’13, of Stratford, were selected to
participate in the 2012 Connecticut Music Educators Association
All-State Music Festival this past April.
Julia and Dolly competed with
other highly talented students from across the state and were judged
based on a prepared solo, scales and sight reading. They
joined more than 500 student musicians from high schools across
Connecticut in Hartford, where they rehearsed with the choir and then
performed in a concert on the last day of the festival, April 14th.
“Julia and Dolly are both exceptionally talented musicians,” says Margaret Sargent, Lauralton Hall’s Fine Arts Department Chair and Music Teacher. “It was a
great experience for our students to be able to work with other
talented musicians from the entire state and to be in larger ensembles
led by outstanding conductors.”
The
Connecticut Music Educators Association (CMEA) is the federated state
organization for NAfME, The National Association for Music Education
which represents the profession of music education in the United States.
The entire Lauralton community congratulates these young women on their accomplishments, and who knows, perhaps someday we will be hearing them at Lincoln Center.
