SITE DIRECTOR – Summer Playground Program

The Milford Recreation Department is accepting applications for at least three vacant Site Director positions at our Summer Playground Program. We are specifically seeking teachers and those with a background in education/child development. Hourly wage starts at $15.00 per hour contingent upon qualifications. The Summer Playground Program is conducted from July 5 - August 12, 2011. Daily work hours are 8:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. (32.5 hours per week minimum), additional hours required for planning, set-up & orientation. Duties and responsibilities are as follows:

Site Director
The Site Director shall:
• Be at least 21 years of age
• Have a minimum of two years experience as a Counselor or other similar experience.
• Have demonstrated leadership, imagination, and enthusiasm as a Counselor
• Be able to initiate and coordinator activities, including but not limited to daily lesson plans, special event planning, weekly themes and corresponding activities,
• Possess the ability to delegate duties, motivate, train, and discipline staff.
• Possess good verbal communication skills when dealing with campers, parents, and staff.
• Possess good organizational skills.
• Possess the ability to generate reports.
• Possess the ability to work independently and within groups.
• Possess the ability run field trips including but not limited to supervising both staff and participants.
• Be certified or obtain certification in CPR / Basic First Aid.
• Possess a minimum of a Bachelors Degree in education, child development, or similar.

The Site Director will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of his/ her specific sight. Including but not limited to the following: The daily planning of structured recreational activities. Ensuring a safe atmosphere and the general safety of the campers. Plan special projects; maintain proper care of the facilities and equipment; coordinate staffing and necessary meeting/ training’s; submit payroll; interact positively with parents; and perform other related duties as determined by Recreation Supervisor, or Recreation Director.
