Experience Corps needs volunteer tutors

Experience Corps needs people age 55 and older to tutor children in literacy in Hamden schools 10 or more hours a week during the school year.

Volunteers also participate in fun community events, the agency said in a statement.

Small stipend and tuition help for children/grandchildren is available, the statement said.

No teaching or tutoring experience is necessary; training is provided, the statement said.

Volunteers must have a high school diploma or GED and be able to pass a background/fingerprint check, the statement said.
