MILFORD – Sparky, the dog that survived a brutal knife attack last month, is back at home after recovering from the infection that had forced him back into the hospital.
The 11-year-old Pomeranian-Pekinese mix was upgraded from fair to good condition and released from the hospital this week after undergoing a second surgery, said Dr. Donald DeForge his veterinarian at Silver Sands Veterinary Clinic.
Sparky, shown at right w ith his owner, Jack Vernon, initially underwent emergency surgery to stitch him back together after he was attacked in his front yard. Since the attack, the community has shown a great outpouring of support, donating more than $12,000 to Sparky's Quest for Justice, a fund established to create a reward for anyone that has information that leads to an arrest and a conviction in the animal cruelty case. Somebody out there knows or suspects who did this and needs to speak up. Only a truely sick person would do this to a little dog. Do you know where your kids were at 1 AM??
I heard Deforge refused to help the dog until the owner came back with CASH. the owner and the dog were home for 8 hours waiting for the bank to open to deforge could be paid. If anyone has any information about deforge's reported conduct in this case call Jack Mills for confidential phone conversation 203-776-4500
We are sorry what happened to Sparky. This looks like a horrible job from whoever did the stitches! Very bad job.
If Silver Sands is a 24 hour ER why did DeForge make the owner WAIT until Sunday morning to operate on a dying dog?
I heard that Dr DeForge didn't take any money for Sparky's surgeries even though there is $12,000 available.
