MILFORD – Sparky, the dog that survived a brutal knife attack last month, is back at home after recovering from the infection that had forced him back into the hospital.
The 11-year-old Pomeranian-Pekinese mix was upgraded from fair to good condition and released from the hospital this week after undergoing a second surgery, said Dr. Donald DeForge his veterinarian at Silver Sands Veterinary Clinic.
Sparky, shown at right w ith his owner, Jack Vernon, initially underwent emergency surgery to stitch him back together after he was attacked in his front yard. Since the attack, the community has shown a great outpouring of support, donating more than $12,000 to Sparky's Quest for Justice, a fund established to create a reward for anyone that has information that leads to an arrest and a conviction in the animal cruelty case.
