Fairfield Museum and History Center Plans Photojournalism Forum Thursday

In conjunction with its 3rd Annual IMAGES 2011 juried photography exhibition, Fairfield Museum and History Center (www.fairfieldhs.org), will hold a photojournalism forum, "The Visual Voice of News and Media", May 5, 2011 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. for aspiring photojournalists and anyone interested in the field.
The cost of the program is $5 and $3 for members, students and seniors.
A panel of high-level photojournalists and students from Fairfield University will focus on ethics, changes and breakthroughs in photojournalism, according to a statement. Panelists will include John Long, former Hartford Courant staff photographer and sought-after speaker on the topic of Ethics in Photojournalism; and Spencer Platt, who joined Getty Images in 2001 and currently covers news stories throughout Latin America, Africa, the Middle East and America, will spearhead the discussion, the statement said.
Two Fairfield University photo journalism students, Andoni Flores, a senior and multimedia editor of the university's newspaper, The Mirror; with a concentration in journalism; and Peter Caty, also a senior, and a photojournalism and political science student, who is the editor of The Mirror, will round out the panel, the statement said.
Panel moderator will be Jean Santopatre, who is Fairfield University's photojournalist.  Christine Jewell, director of community education and programs, organized this program for the Museum, the statement said.
