Artist Harry L. Green is focus of February exhibit at Stratford Library

Green’s work "tells a story in each piece of art and each story grows as it encounters another," organizers said.

STRATFORD - The February exhibit at the Stratford Library is “Art Expressions by Harry L. Green,” a collection of new paintings by the African-American artist.

The display is in conjunction with the nationwide observation of “Black History Month” and the Library’s own celebration of “One Book, One Stratford,” organizers said in a statement.

It is the Bridgeport artist’s first appearance at the library and the exhibit is free and open to the public.
Harry L. Green is a graduate of Husson University in Bangor, Maine where he earned a bacehor's degree in management and dinance and a master's in finance from Sacred Heart University, the statement said.

His "life-long interest in art became serious in 1996 when Green enrolled in evening classes in Bridgeport Adult Education, which eventually led to private study," the statement said.

His specific medium is Giclée paintings of various subjects including a variety of ethnic works. Giclée is the use of inkjet printing for making digital reproductions of original fine art paintings, it said. Green’s work "tells a story in each piece of art and each story grows as it encounters another," the statement said.
Viewing hours for “Art Expressions by Harry L. Green” are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday-Thursday; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday-Saturday.

Green will be the special guest for the Stratford Lifelong Learners program from noon to 1 p.m. Feb. 12 in the Library’s Lovell Room. The talk also is free and open to the public.

The art exhibit is located in the Main Lobby of the Stratford Library, 2203 Main St. and will continue through March 3.
