Annual Milford Oyster Festival announces 2011 Charitable Contribution
The Annual Milford Oyster Festival committee, along with representatives from the 2011 recipients, gathered at the Milford Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, January 26th for the presentation of the 2011 charitable contributions.
The 2011 recipients include Milford Fire Department Toys for Tots, Milford Police Department Citizen’s Police Academy, the Department of Human Services Heating Assistance Program and Adopt-a-Family Program, Give 2 The Troops, Milford Food Bank, Rape Crisis Center of Milford, Milford Boys & Girls Club, Milford Red Cross, Literacy Center of Milford, Milford Animal Shelter, the Boy Scouts, Prostate Cancer Center and LIVESTRONG, Jonathan Law Post Prom and Foran High Post Prom.
“The Oyster Festival committee is dedicated to supporting these and the other 70+ important civic and non-profit organizations that participate at the Festival each year” stated Jay Pinto, President of the 2012 Festival. “Each of these groups relies on the support of the community and, as the largest tourist event in Milford; the Festival provides an effective forum for highlighting their programs and services in order to expand their reach. In our own small way, we all can support these organizations and I encourage the community to do so.”
The 38th Annual Milford Oyster Festival will be held, rain or shine, on Saturday, August 18th 2012, 10:00 a.m. till 6:00 p.m. Oyster Eve, in conjunction with the Downtown Milford Business Association, will be held Friday, August 17th 6:00 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. For more festival information please check our website, www.MilfordOysterFestival.com, or call the festival hotline 203-878-5363.
